A Day in the Life at Boat Beautiful: The Crew Behind Central Texas’s Most Beloved Boat Detail Company.

At Boat Beautiful, the day kicks off early with a crew of determined detail technicians ready to tackle whatever the lake, marina, or the road to get there throws their way. As the sun rises, the team gathers supplies, loads up the vans, and checks in with Alex, the General Manager, who’s already reviewing new inquiries and any last-minute changes to the schedule. Once everyone’s good to go, the red, white, and blue Boat Beautiful vans roll out—heading toward marinas and private docks across Central Texas.

Above vans ready to head out at 7:00 AM.

Once the vans are gone, the office and shop get a little quieter—unless technicians are inside working on Ceramic Coating, wet sanding, or giving the trademark Boat Beautiful detail to boats on trailers dropped off at our new location in the Vineyard Business Center, right off 620. Alex stays busy as the team’s main point of contact—answering questions, solving issues like updated gate codes, locating power supplies for pressure washers, or helping techs navigate a tricky marina or dock. With seven years at Boat Beautiful, he’s seen it all and knows exactly how to help. Sometimes, you might even catch the man himself — owner Andrew Hayslip — at the shop, offering guidance backed by over 17 years in the boat detailing business. He’s there making sure everything’s running smoothly, the business keeps moving forward, and his team is taken care of — always making sure, as he would say, that everyone’s ‘making it happen, Captain!’

Above some Boat Beautiful Shop Action, a lot of polishing and detailing boats on trailers.

Back out across Lake Travis, Lake Austin, and Lake LBJ, each day brings a mix of boats and clients. From glamorous homes on Lake Austin to the marinas of Horseshoe Bay Resort, the team is everywhere. Some boats are long overdue for a detail and take more time. Others are part of the “Regs” program—clients who get their boats detailed regularly, whether bi-weekly, monthly, or a few times a year. These boats are easier to maintain, but every job still gets the full Boat Beautiful treatment. It’s hard work—especially during the summer—but there’s also a sense of peace and tranquility when detailing out at some of the most beautiful lakes in the world.

Once the day’s boats are done, the crew heads back to the shop. Used equipment like polisher pads, microfiber towels, and drying towels are cleaned and prepped for the next day. Everyone’s a little beat after a long day, but Alex is there to welcome the team back, cracking a few jokes and asking how everything went.

It’s more than just detailing—it’s a team, a detailing family, fueled by passion, precision, and pride. We’re proud to serve some of the coolest boat communities in Texas. That’s what we do: the Boat Beautiful family shows up every day to make boats across Central Texas look their absolute best. We’re here to take the chores off boat owners’ plates so they can focus on what really matters—fun on the water

The Fight Against the Texas Sun: How Ceramic Coating Protects Your Boat.

If you’ve owned a boat in Texas for more than a season, you already know—our sun is no joke. The intense UV exposure we get here can take a serious toll on your boat’s appearance. Oxidized gelcoat, faded paint, and cracked, chalky vinyl are just a few of the battles we’ve seen time and time again.

But over the years, boat protection has come a long way. And Ceramic Coating has changed the game.

UV Rays: Your Boat’s #1 Enemy

The Texas sun beats down hard on your boat whether it’s stored at the dock or trailered to the lake. Constant UV exposure causes:

  • Fading and oxidation on your gelcoat
  • Yellowing and clouding of colored or dark finishes
  • Vinyl seats and upholstery drying out, cracking, and turning chalky
  • Loss of shine and that clean, glossy finish you loveThis kind of damage not only takes away from your boat’s appearance, but it also affects resale value and long-term performance.

Ceramic Coating: Your Boat’s First Line of Defense

Our marine-grade Ceramic Coating works by creating a hydrophobic, UV-blocking layer over your boat’s surfaces. Here’s how it protects:

    💧 Exterior Gelcoat & Paint:
Ceramic Coating forms a bond with the surface of your boat, creating a slick, durable shield that

reflects UV rays. It helps prevent oxidation, keeps colors looking vibrant, and makes future washes easier since contaminants have a harder time sticking.

    🛡 Interior Vinyl & Upholstery:
Yes, Ceramic Coating works on vinyl too. We apply it to seats and interior trim to help prevent

cracking, fading, and discoloration from the sun. It even adds a touch of water and stain resistance—perfect for keeping your interior looking sharp during long lake days.

Why It Matters in Central Texas

    page1image19903696 page1image19899744

Boats on Lake Travis, Lake Austin, and throughout Central Texas face brutal exposure—hours of direct sun, hot weather, and high UV indexes almost year-round. That’s why protection isn’t optional—it’s essential.

With Ceramic Coating, you get long-term defense and a finish that looks incredible. It’s not just about shine—it’s about preservation.

Protect Your Investment. Enjoy the Water.

We’ve detailed hundreds of boats across Central Texas, and we’ve seen what works. Ceramic Coating is one of the best ways to protect your boat’s exterior and interior from the relentless Texas sun.

Whether your boat is docked, trailered, or stored outside, let us help you fight back and keep it looking brand new.

Want to learn more about protecting your boat? Reach out today—we’ll walk you through the process and show you how Ceramic Coating can make a difference. Click below to get in touch with our team.

Lake LBJ, the Best Lake You’ve Never Visited

Tucked away in the heart of the Texas Hill Country lies a hidden gem that locals love and visitors often overlook—Lake Lyndon B. Johnson, better known as Lake LBJ. With its calm waters, beautiful scenery, and year-round accessibility, it might just be the best lake you’ve never visited.

    Why Lake LBJ Stands Out

Unlike many lakes in Texas that are prone to water level changes, Lake LBJ is a constant-level lake. That means no matter the season, you can count on smooth water for boating, jet skiing, fishing, and relaxing lakeside. This makes it a favorite among boaters, wake surfers, and families who don’t want to guess what kind of conditions they’ll find when they arrive.

    Perfect for Water Enthusiasts

Lake LBJ offers something for every type of water lover. Whether you’re looking to cruise around on a pontoon, launch your wake boat for some serious surf sessions, or find a quiet cove to cast a fishing line, this lake delivers. Its wide stretches of water and scenic inlets make it a favorite for both thrill-seekers and those looking to unwind.

    A Laid-Back Hill Country Vibe

The communities around Lake LBJ, like Horseshoe Bay, Kingsland, and Granite Shoals, offer a laid-back, welcoming vibe. You’ll find cozy cabins, waterfront vacation homes, and plenty of local restaurants and bars to enjoy after a day on the water. It’s the kind of place where you instantly feel like a regular, even if it’s your first time visiting.

    Ideal for Weekend Getaways

Just a little over an hour from Austin, Lake LBJ is an easy escape from the city. Whether you’re looking for a quick weekend getaway or planning a longer family vacation, it offers the perfect mix of convenience and seclusion. And because it hasn’t been overrun with crowds, you still get that peaceful, off-the-grid feeling without being too far from the essentials.

    Come See for Yourself

If you’ve been to Lake Travis or Lake Austin, you’ll be surprised at how different Lake LBJ feels. It’s quieter, more relaxed, and full of hidden gems waiting to be explored. From the sparkling blue water to the scenic Hill Country backdrop, Lake LBJ is truly one of Texas’ best- kept secrets.

So next time you’re planning a lake trip, skip the usual spots and head west. You might just discover your new favorite place. If you happen to have a boat on Lake LBJ, we want to be the ones to detail it. Click below to get in touch with our team and schedule a detail.

Ready for the best day on Lake Travis? We know how accomplish the best day ever on the lake, because we are true lake people here at Boat Beautiful. Whether you’re a seasoned local or just visiting, follow these 5 easy steps to have the time of your life on Lake Travis!

Step 1: Get on the water! Yes, you need a boat.

Eating next to the lake, taking in the views, or swimming from a dock is one thing—but to truly experience the magic of Lake Travis, you’ve got to get on a boat. Whether it’s a party barge with your friends, a speedboat, or even a rowboat—it doesn’t matter—just get on a boat! Find a friend with one, buy one, rent one, or make it happen however you can, because the experience is totally worth it! Trust us, there’s no better way to enjoy the stunning lake, the sunshine, and that fresh air than cruising along on the water.

Also you don’t want some gross, dirty boat ruining the vibe. A little dirt, grime, or water stains can totally kill the mood. That’s where we come in! With a little TLC from one of our pro boat detailers, we’ll have your boat—or whoever’s boat it is—looking fresh, spotless, and ready to shine.

Step 2: You’re On the Boat—Now It’s Time for Some Local Grub!

Alright, you’re on the boat and off to a great start, but hold up—you gotta have food ready now your out on the lake! There’s no better way to keep you and your crew vibing than with some local grub and refreshing drinks. These are the lake day food essentials:

    • Chips and Salsa or Queso—The ultimate snack to munch on while cruising.
    • BBQ Sandwiches from Rudy’s—Get that smoky goodness in your belly.
    • Jalapeño Sausages wrapped in buttery tortillas with some hot sauce—This one’s a game-changer.

Listen, if you’re not rocking some killer food on the boat, the vibe is gonna go down faster than the Titanic. Don’t forget the drinks! If you’re 21+, local beer like Shiner Bock or a canned cocktail like Ranch Water will do. If you’re younger or drinking isn’t your thing, a classic Dr Pepper or Topo Chico always hits the spot.

Now, you’ve got the grub—but let’s be real, all that good food on the boat is probably going to make a bit of a mess. No worries though—maybe give us a call after your adventure or hop online to boatbeautiful.com to schedule a detail. We’ll take care of that mess, so your boat stays looking fresh for the next round of fun!

Step 3: Crank Up The Tunes!

You’ve got the boat, the grub, and the crew—now crank up that stereo! Skip the engine noise and blast some classics like George Strait, Stevie Ray Vaughan or put on some throwback jams! Cruising along Lake Travis with good tunes? Now that’s Lake Travis-ing!

But here’s a little secret—spiders love to hide in the speaker cans. These eight-legged intruders are true pests, they make the boat their home if the boat hasn’t been used in a while. Best to schedule a detail before you hit the water, and we’ll take care of those dreaded boat spiders. Keep the vibes smooth and the boat bug-free!

Step 4: Wake Surfing or Get Pulled on an Inflatable Raft!

Wake surfing has exploded in popularity lately! We’ve traded the thrill of speed and sailing for something a little slower but way more exciting—riding the waves. It’s all about carving behind the boat, feeling the rush, and staying balanced while you catch that perfect wave. Not into surfing? No problem! Grab an inflatable raft and get towed around for some wild fun. Either way, you’re in for a blast.

Step 5: Don’t Forget the Boat Detail from Boat Beautiful!

    Lake Travis VS Lake Austin

Both Beloved, but Which Lake Do Austin Boat Owners Enjoy More?

    Boat

In this discussion, we dive into the pros and cons of two of Austin’s most cherished lakes: Lake Travis and Lake Austin. Whether you’re a boat owner or a weekend warrior, we’ll help you weigh the differences and decide which lake might be best.

    Lake Travis, the good.

Lake Travis, the OG big brother of Austin’s lake scene, has long been celebrated for its expansive waters, stunning views, and a playground for boating and watersports enthusiasts. As the original go-to destination for lake recreation in the area, it has cherished local spots like the Oasis and family fun at Volente Veach. It has earned a beloved place in the hearts of many.  It was a big part of what made Austin back in the day.

Lake Travis... the not so good.

The problem with Lake Travis is that you can’t bring up the lake without mentioning its currently very low water level. This situation has created a somewhat disheartening view, as the once expansive and inviting lake now has a more bleak and diminished appearance. The lake level seems to depress people.

    Lake Austin, the good.

Lake Austin is a gem in the heart of Austin, known for its consistent water levels, lavish lakeside properties and a place to park your boat and party. This lake is an integral part of Austin’s aesthetic, gracing postcards and T-shirts with its presence. It’s the dream location for many seeking an exceptional lakeside lifestyle. Neighborhoods like Tarrytown exemplify the coveted waterfront homes that make Lake Austin so desirable. The lake is also home to iconic venues like Hula Hut and Ski Shores, where you can pull up in your boat and enjoy delicious food while taking in the beautiful surroundings. With its picturesque views and vibrant local spots, Lake Austin offers a unique blend of lake fun.

Lake Austin... the not so good.

Lake Austin, while a popular destination, has its challenges. Its popularity often leads to significant overcrowding, especially during peak seasons. This high volume of boat traffic can make activities like parking the boat or wakesurfing a little more challenging. Additionally, boat ramps can become problematic, with heavy traffic and congestion further complicating and a lot of stress to the experience. Lake Austin’s relatively narrow and shallow nature compared to other large lakes can make it less suitable for larger boats.

Whether you’re navigating the lively, crowded waters of Lake Austin or enjoying the expansive, serene stretches of Lake Travis, each lake provides its own brand of lakeside enjoyment. No matter where your boat is docked, our team is here to ensure it stays in pristine condition. Click below to schedule a detail and keep your vessel looking its best for every adventure.

    Boat Spiders!

BOAT SPIDERS: THE EIGHT-LEGGED PESTS OF BOAT DETAILING

    Boat spiders

As boat detailers, we often encounter a surprising number of spiders nestled in the hidden corners of boats. These arachnids are adept at finding refuge in the smallest crevices, behind boat covers, and within the folds of cushions. Their presence is a common aspect of our job, as they seek shelter from the elements and sometimes even make their homes in the less frequented parts of the vessel. We frequently find their intricate webs and spider droppings, which can be a nuisance and a sign of their unwanted presence.

Here is a video one we encountered at a recent trip to Lake Austin Marina.

@boatbeautifulatx Yes, boat spiders are a real thing. If you have arachnophobia and need your boat detailed, we can help! Text or call us at 512-963-3290, or direct message us to schedule a boat detail. Spiders often see boats as the perfect new home, using them as a base to hunt other bugs and create intricate webs across the various nooks and crannies. They’re especially drawn to docks and marinas, where the damp environment and shelter make an ideal dwelling spot. Another sign your boat is being taken over by spiders is spotting small dots all across the surface—yes, those are spider droppings.

If the thought of spiders creeping around your boat or the webs they leave behind when you’re not using it makes your skin crawl, or if you’d simply rather not deal with these pests, we’ve got you covered. Our expert detailing service will ensure your boat is thoroughly cleaned and free of any eight-legged intruders. Relax and enjoy your time on the water, knowing we’ve taken care of the spiders and their webs. Book our service today and start  your next adventure, spider-free and stress-free.

Malibu vs Nautique: Battle of the Wakesurfing Boat Titans!

We detail many wakesurfing boats, but two reign supreme in popularity.
The question is, which is better?

We’ve have the privilege of detailing a wide range of boats, each one having its own unique features and character.

However, when it comes to wakesurfing and wakeboarding, two brands consistently stand out: Nautique and Malibu. While we deeply appreciate both of these boats and recognize their significant contributions to the water sports community, this article aims to delve deeper. We shine a spotlight on these two titans of the wake boat world, igniting the debate over which truly reigns supreme in today’s market.

    Malibu

Malibu Boats, specifically in the context of wakesurfing, gained prominence in the early 2000s. Their efforts in wakesurfing innovation and technology became particularly notable around 2005 with the introduction of advanced wake-shaping systems and customizable ballast systems that significantly enhanced the wakesurfing experience.

What sets Malibu apart and makes them truly awesome are their relentless pursuit of excellence in hull design, their advanced wake-shaping systems like the patented Power Wedge, and their commitment to enhancing the wakesurfing experience through features like customizable ballast systems and user-friendly interfaces. They also offer a variety of vibrant color combinations that can truly give each boat a distinctive and fun character.

    Nautique

Nautique, a renowned name in wakeboarding and wakesurfing, established its prominence in the early 1990s. Known for their commitment to innovation and performance, Nautique introduced their line of wakesurf boats which quickly became industry benchmarks. The Super Air Nautique series, starting with models like the Super Air Nautique 210, exemplifies their dedication to creating specialized boats optimized for wakesurfing and wakeboarding. These models are celebrated for their precision-engineered hulls, advanced wake control systems such as the Nautique Surf System (NSS), and luxurious interiors tailored for both comfort and performance. Nautique’s continuous evolution in wakesurf boat technology has cemented their reputation as leaders in the industry, catering to enthusiasts and professionals seeking unparalleled performance on the water.

    In Conclusion

Nautique and Malibu boats epitomize the essence of wakesurfing: fun. Both brands excel in delivering exhilarating experiences on the water. Nautique and Malibu boats are also undeniably the most popular choices among enthusiasts, evident from the fact that we meticulously detail each of these boat brands almost every day.

Malibu and Nautique are at the forefront of wake boat innovation, continually pushing the boundaries of hull design and technology to enhance the wakeboarding and watersports experience.

Whether you prefer Malibu boats or Nautiques, we take pride in detailing and making them look their best for their next lake day.

A Tribute to the Iconic Cigarette Boat

Here are three reasons this boat is so iconic.

    The Future of Austin Lakes

    by boatbeautiful

With Austin being the fastest growing city in the nation, the questions begs, what does the future hold for Austin’s lakes? Currently, in times of drought, the state has difficulty supplying enough water for the current population. This has led the City of Austin to adopt a “Water Forward” initiative. This initiative is a 100- year water plan that could ensure all Austinites have access to water.

The Water Forward initiative has a strong focus on water conservation and increasing the use of water-efficient products. This initiative also utilizes non-traditional sources of water. Examples of non-traditional sources of water are rain water, storm water and waste water. You can utilize these non-traditional sources in areas such as watering lawns, in your toilet, or for washing you clothes. These would save millions of gallons of potable water every year. These simple goals can help achieve long term sustainability of Austin and surrounding areas even in times of drought.

Rest assured that the City of Austin is doing everything they can to make sure our lakes stay full and beautiful. We encourage you to take part in Water Forward thinking to help conserve our currently full lakes.

We hope that you enjoy your time out on the lake! If you are looking to get your boat looking sparkling new, please reach out to us at any time. (512)963-3290.
