Lake Travis VS Lake Austin

Both Beloved, but Which Lake Do Austin Boat Owners Enjoy More?

Boat

In this discussion, we dive into the pros and cons of two of Austin’s most cherished lakes: Lake Travis and Lake Austin. Whether you’re a boat owner or a weekend warrior, we’ll help you weigh the differences and decide which lake might be best.

Lake Travis, the good.

Lake Travis, the OG big brother of Austin’s lake scene, has long been celebrated for its expansive waters, stunning views, and a playground for boating and watersports enthusiasts. As the original go-to destination for lake recreation in the area, it has cherished local spots like the Oasis and family fun at Volente Veach. It has earned a beloved place in the hearts of many.  It was a big part of what made Austin back in the day.

Lake Travis... the not so good.

The problem with Lake Travis is that you can’t bring up the lake without mentioning its currently very low water level. This situation has created a somewhat disheartening view, as the once expansive and inviting lake now has a more bleak and diminished appearance. The lake level seems to depress people.

Lake Austin, the good.

Lake Austin is a gem in the heart of Austin, known for its consistent water levels, lavish lakeside properties and a place to park your boat and party. This lake is an integral part of Austin’s aesthetic, gracing postcards and T-shirts with its presence. It’s the dream location for many seeking an exceptional lakeside lifestyle. Neighborhoods like Tarrytown exemplify the coveted waterfront homes that make Lake Austin so desirable. The lake is also home to iconic venues like Hula Hut and Ski Shores, where you can pull up in your boat and enjoy delicious food while taking in the beautiful surroundings. With its picturesque views and vibrant local spots, Lake Austin offers a unique blend of lake fun.

Lake Austin... the not so good.

Lake Austin, while a popular destination, has its challenges. Its popularity often leads to significant overcrowding, especially during peak seasons. This high volume of boat traffic can make activities like parking the boat or wakesurfing a little more challenging. Additionally, boat ramps can become problematic, with heavy traffic and congestion further complicating and a lot of stress to the experience. Lake Austin’s relatively narrow and shallow nature compared to other large lakes can make it less suitable for larger boats.

Whether you’re navigating the lively, crowded waters of Lake Austin or enjoying the expansive, serene stretches of Lake Travis, each lake provides its own brand of lakeside enjoyment. No matter where your boat is docked, our team is here to ensure it stays in pristine condition. Click below to schedule a detail and keep your vessel looking its best for every adventure.

Boat Spiders!

BOAT SPIDERS: THE EIGHT-LEGGED PESTS OF BOAT DETAILING

Boat spiders

As boat detailers, we often encounter a surprising number of spiders nestled in the hidden corners of boats. These arachnids are adept at finding refuge in the smallest crevices, behind boat covers, and within the folds of cushions. Their presence is a common aspect of our job, as they seek shelter from the elements and sometimes even make their homes in the less frequented parts of the vessel. We frequently find their intricate webs and spider droppings, which can be a nuisance and a sign of their unwanted presence.

Here is a video one we encountered at a recent trip to Lake Austin Marina.

Spiders often see boats as the perfect new home, using them as a base to hunt other bugs and create intricate webs across the various nooks and crannies. They’re especially drawn to docks and marinas, where the damp environment and shelter make an ideal dwelling spot. Another sign your boat is being taken over by spiders is spotting small dots all across the surface—yes, those are spider droppings.

If the thought of spiders creeping around your boat or the webs they leave behind when you’re not using it makes your skin crawl, or if you’d simply rather not deal with these pests, we’ve got you covered. Our expert detailing service will ensure your boat is thoroughly cleaned and free of any eight-legged intruders. Relax and enjoy your time on the water, knowing we’ve taken care of the spiders and their webs. Book our service today and start  your next adventure, spider-free and stress-free.

Malibu vs Nautique: Battle of the Wakesurfing Boat Titans!

We detail many wakesurfing boats, but two reign supreme in popularity.
The question is, which is better?

We’ve have the privilege of detailing a wide range of boats, each one having its own unique features and character.

However, when it comes to wakesurfing and wakeboarding, two brands consistently stand out: Nautique and Malibu. While we deeply appreciate both of these boats and recognize their significant contributions to the water sports community, this article aims to delve deeper. We shine a spotlight on these two titans of the wake boat world, igniting the debate over which truly reigns supreme in today’s market.

Malibu

Malibu Boats, specifically in the context of wakesurfing, gained prominence in the early 2000s. Their efforts in wakesurfing innovation and technology became particularly notable around 2005 with the introduction of advanced wake-shaping systems and customizable ballast systems that significantly enhanced the wakesurfing experience.

What sets Malibu apart and makes them truly awesome are their relentless pursuit of excellence in hull design, their advanced wake-shaping systems like the patented Power Wedge, and their commitment to enhancing the wakesurfing experience through features like customizable ballast systems and user-friendly interfaces. Nautique

Nautique, a renowned name in wakeboarding and wakesurfing, established its prominence in the early 1990s. Known for their commitment to innovation and performance, Nautique introduced their line of wakesurf boats which quickly became industry benchmarks. The Super Air Nautique series, starting with models like the Super Air Nautique 210, exemplifies their dedication to creating specialized boats optimized for wakesurfing and wakeboarding. These models are celebrated for their precision-engineered hulls, advanced wake control systems such as the Nautique Surf System (NSS), and luxurious interiors tailored for both comfort and performance. Nautique’s continuous evolution in wakesurf boat technology has cemented their reputation as leaders in the industry, catering to enthusiasts and professionals seeking unparalleled performance on the water.

In Conclusion

Nautique and Malibu boats epitomize the essence of wakesurfing: fun. Both brands excel in delivering exhilarating experiences on the water. A Tribute to the Iconic Cigarette Boat

The cigarette boat, also known as a “go-fast boat,” burst onto the scene in the 1960s, revolutionizing the world of offshore powerboating. Renowned for its sleek design, powerful engines, and blistering speed, the cigarette boat quickly became an icon of luxury, performance, and adventure.

Here are three reasons this boat is so iconic.

1. Performance and Luxury

The cigarette boat stands out for its exceptional performance capabilities paired with luxurious amenities. You’re going to look good while you are going fast. These boats are engineered for speed, often reaching astonishing velocities of over 100 miles per hour. This blend of high-performance engineering and lavish interiors caters to thrill-seekers and affluent individuals alike, making the cigarette boat a symbol of both power and prestige. With their commanding presence, cigarette boats effortlessly captivate onlookers, demanding attention as they glide gracefully across the lake. Their sleek contours and thunderous engines evoke a sense of awe, compelling everyone to pause and admire.

2. Pop Culture Influence

The cigarette boat’s presence in popular culture has contributed significantly to its iconic status. From its prominent appearances in the TV show  “Miami Vice” to being featured in music videos and magazines, the cigarette boat has captured the imagination of audiences worldwide. Its association with glamour, adventure, and the high life has solidified its place as an enduring symbol of luxury and excitement.

3. Imitators

The cigarette boat’s groundbreaking design and success in offshore racing have inspired numerous imitators and competitors. Many boat manufacturers have sought to replicate the sleek lines, powerful engines, and high-speed performance of the original cigarette boat. This emulation speaks to the enduring influence and impact of the cigarette boat design, further cementing its status as an icon in the world of powerboating.

While the popularity of cigarette boats may have waned in recent years, with the rise of more versatile center console boats, their legacy and allure endure. Despite changes in trends and preferences, there will always be a dedicated fan base for these iconic vessels, drawn to their timeless elegance and unparalleled performance. Whether cruising through the waves or gracing the waters of a marina, a cigarette boat commands attention and respect, earning the coveted Boat Beautiful sign of approval. The Future of Austin Lakes

by boatbeautiful

With Austin being the fastest growing city in the nation, the questions begs, what does the future hold for Austin’s lakes? Currently, in times of drought, the state has difficulty supplying enough water for the current population. This has led the City of Austin to adopt a “Water Forward” initiative. This initiative is a 100- year water plan that could ensure all Austinites have access to water.

The Water Forward initiative has a strong focus on water conservation and increasing the use of water-efficient products. This initiative also utilizes non-traditional sources of water. Examples of non-traditional sources of water are rain water, storm water and waste water. You can utilize these non-traditional sources in areas such as watering lawns, in your toilet, or for washing you clothes. These would save millions of gallons of potable water every year. These simple goals can help achieve long term sustainability of Austin and surrounding areas even in times of drought.

Rest assured that the City of Austin is doing everything they can to make sure our lakes stay full and beautiful. We encourage you to take part in Water Forward thinking to help conserve our currently full lakes.

We hope that you enjoy your time out on the lake! If you are looking to get your boat looking sparkling new, please reach out to us at any time. (512)963-3290.

Green Goddess!

by boatbeautiful

These days more and more boat manufacturers are including special details in their designs to stand out. Whether that’s a collapsible tower, removable bimini, state-of-the-art sound system or impressive aesthetics, it’s a game of who can produce the most impressive product in an ever-growing competitive market.

This Centurion is no exception! The bold green and dense flake of the exterior gel coat makes this a stunner on and off the water. Check out this video of our process taking her from good to great!

Happy 4th of July!

The 4th of July means hotdogs, fireworks and most importantly time at the lake! This week we kept busy getting everyone’s toys ready to party this weekend.

We had an amazing black-sparkle Centurion come in for a full exterior detail and ceramic coating, a gorgeous Malibu 22LSV do a full exterior detail and ceramic coating, tower and window coating and a unique McLaren sports car do a detail and 5-year coating as well!

Our shop was hustle and bustle all week long but we managed to get everything done by the deadline so our staff can enjoy our 4th on the lake with our clients!

Take a look at these works of art. We had so much fun working on them this week. Next week is going to be even busier!

Marvelous Malibu!

by boatbeautiful

This Malibu came to us from the factory, so you’d think she’d be perfect right? Unfortunately not! As good as Malibu is at making wonderful boats, they don’t always look perfect when they arrive at your door.

That’s the main reason that we do a test spots on every single boat that we see, whether it’s a 2020, or 1990. Every boat is different and our trained technicians will diagnose exactly what is needed upon arrival at your boat.

It may take some extra time and effort, but going the extra mile is what Boat Beautiful is all about, and the results speak for themselves!

Busy summer!

by boatbeautiful

It was a very busy week here at Boat Beautiful! We’ve got a bigger staff than ever, so we can handle the craziness of this summer. In our shop this week we had three AMAZING boats come in for full details and ceramic coatings.

After a single-stage polish these babies are shining! Especially the flake finish really shows off how well the detail and ceramic coat lock in the beauty of a boat.

Take a look at these pics!

Going the extra mile!

Usually, we ceramic coat in our private, enclosed shop. This way we can control the elements, and make sure the coating is as immaculate as possible. But, for bigger boats, sometimes that’s not possible.

This week we ceramic coated a 42′ Regal. This was far too big to fit indoors, so we had to get creative. The boat was in a covered slip, so we didn’t need to worry about rain so much, (plus living in Central Texas, it almost never rains!) But, we did have the challenge of how to polish and coat the sides of the hull that we couldn’t reach from the dock, or from leaning over the rails on the side.

This is where we excel. We are great at creative problem solving, and making sure the job gets done right! We reached out to our friends at local marina stores and found one of these, a BOTE floating pad.

We got her blown up, tied off to the boat, and our technician sat atop the water and went to work! She turned out absolutely beautiful and we couldn’t have been happier with the success of our solution.
